Robot Riot at RoboSLAM

Event Description

It’s that time of year again! When Sunny South Florida enjoys pristine weather and we all get the chance to play a bit at RoboSLAM! This year we’re aiming for full brackets in the ants and beetles (and as many fairies as we can get!); the more the merrier so bring what you will and come have some fun.

RoboSLAM is taking over Arnold Hall at the Miami Dade Fairgrounds (location below). They’ll have VEX, VEXIQ and 1080 running on a variety of fields, so this will be a HUGE event overall. They’ve given us a rather large area right next to the entrance, so we’ll have plenty of space and lots of people walking by.
The arena will be our local 6’ x 6’ with a pushout zone (angled wood that’s easy to get out of if you’ve got enough ground clearance). We’ll be following the SPARC ruleset (http://sparc.tools/ under “SPARC Document Update”) with the following points of emphasis:
No fire weapons
Exposed batteries are automatic forfeits
One postponement
One unstick per fight (if you become unintentionally stuck)
No entanglements
**HAVE FUN**

Entry fee for each bot in every weight class will be: $20
If we have enough robots, we’ll begin a cash prize pool in addition to any other prizes (tbd at the moment).
Fights start PROMPTLY at 9:30AM and run through approximately 4PM with time for additional grudges running through 5-530 (VEX will likely run longer so we have the option to stay a bit later to keep fighting).
Must be there and ready to safety by 8:30AM (you risk forfeiting your first fight if you aren’t through safety before we start).
There will be food on-site and we’ll have a short break that you can arrange to go get food in the area (we’ll be next to a college so there are lots of QUICK food options nearby).

Please bring a camping chair if you can as we may be limited.
Bring a positive attitude and be ready to have fun; we all understand judges decisions can be harsh but remember that if you’re having fun you’ve already come out ahead.

Teams MUST register via BuildersDB (and MUST register ahead of time). Registration fee is $20 per robot. Payments will be handled at the event.
