The inaugural NRL Northern California Regional Championships will be taking place at the California Clash event on Saturday, February 8th at the Hacker Lab in Rocklin, CA. Over the past months, high school and college student teams throughout California have been using their design, engineering and machining skills to create the ultimate robot that dishes out the most damage while being able to withstand destruction from its opponents. These remote-controlled 15lb Combat Bots compete in fights using variety of weapons and tactical actions in a high-tech steel and bulletproof polycarbonate arena.
Ask a competitor about NRL, and the first thing you hear isn’t likely to be anything about applied math, in-game testing or machining parts. Instead, you’ll hear about heartening wins, crushing losses and Bots inflicting maximum carnage during each and every battle. And yet, underneath it all, school-age team members are getting a real-world technical education. Many, in the process, are being introduced to career options they may never have considered otherwise. If you love mechanical mayhem and thrilling competition and want to see the future of manufacturing in action, then the NRL Sacramento: California Clash is the one robotic STEM event of the year you do NOT want to miss!
NRL Sacramento: California Clash is a combat robotics competition for high school and college teams. Competitors from this event will be chosen to move on to NRL Nationals, held in May 2020.

Both divisions will compete in The BATTLE OCTOGON! 8 high walls 80 sq feet of fighting area with NO PITS, NO RING OUTS, NO HAZARDS and NO CORNERS.

ABOUT THE NATIONAL ROBOTICS LEAGUE
The National Robotics League (NRL) is a manufacturing workforce development program of the National Tooling & Machining Association (NTMA) where students design and build remote controlled robots (Bots) to face-off in a gladiator-style competition. Through the manufacturing process of Bot building, students’ imaginations are captured as they design, build and compete with their own robotic creations. Through this hands-on effort along with industry partnerships, students gain practical knowledge of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) – all essential skills for manufacturing.
