Robot Riot at RoboSLAM 2020

Event Description

It’s that time of year again! When Sunny South Florida enjoys pristine weather and we all get the chance to play a bit at RoboSLAM! We're going to have a large 1lber bracket this year with a smaller 3lb and 150g brackets. If there is more demand for 3s we may be able to open it up. RoboSLAM is taking over Arnold Hall at the Miami Dade Fairgrounds (location below). They’ll have VEX VRC, VEXIQ and a couple other events running on a variety of fields, so this will be a HUGE event overall with lots of action going on in general. The arena will be our local 6’ x 6’ with a pushout zone (angled wood that’s easy to get out of if you’ve got enough ground clearance). We’ll be following the SPARC ruleset (http://sparc.tools/ under “SPARC Document Update”) with the following points of emphasis: No fire weapons Exposed batteries are automatic forfeits One postponement One unstick per fight (if you become unintentionally stuck) No entanglements ONE MATCH FINAL - Winner of the final takes first; there will not be a second finals fight if the winner bracket position loses. FIGHTS WILL BE 2 MINUTES LONG **HAVE FUN** Entry fee for each bot in every weight class will be: $20 If we have enough robots, we’ll begin a cash prize pool in addition to any other prizes (tbd at the moment). Fights start PROMPTLY at 9:30AM and run through approximately 5 PM with time for additional grudges during the finals (VEX is aiming to end at 5 PM). I'd like to end no later than 5 PM so people can enjoy the rest of their night! Must be there and ready to safety by 8:30AM (you risk forfeiting your first fight if you aren’t through safety before we start). There will be food on-site and we’ll have a short break that you can arrange to go get food in the area (we’ll be next to a college so there are lots of QUICK food options nearby). OUTSIDE FOOD IS NOT ALLOWED IN THE VENUE! Please bring a camping chair if you can as we may be limited. Bring a positive attitude and be ready to have fun; we all understand judges decisions can be harsh but remember that if you’re having fun you’ve already come out ahead.
