Event Description
Combat Robots of Oklahoma is going to be at Maker Faire Tulsa! After last year’s Maker Faire cancelation, the Faire is coming back bigger than ever in 2021. The Faire has moved to a larger building at Tulsa’s Expo Square making room for more booths and spectators. This is a great opportunity to showcase combat robots to a large audience and generate more interest in the hobby. The Faire is free to enter for spectators.
Location: This is an indoor event at the Exchange Center in Tulsa’s Expo Square (4145 E. 21st St. Tulsa, OK 74114). This is the building directly across the parking lot from the large River Spirit Expo building.
Time: We will start setting up the booth space at 7:00 AM. Safety will begin as soon as the arena is built and ready (around 8:30 AM). We want matches to start at 10:00 AM to coincide with the opening of the Maker Faire to the public. If you are not at a pit table by 9:30 AM, you are late! The Maker Faire closes at 5:00 PM, so we must be done with the tournament brackets at that time.
Facilities: Tables and chairs are provided by the venue. Bathrooms are onsite. Electrical outlets may be limited, so it is recommended to bring your own power strips and extension cords. Pit space is limited, so we are asking each team to only use half of a provided folding table.
Arena: The arena is 8 ft x 8 ft x 2 ft tall with a wooden floor. There is a seam in the middle of the floor, but we do our best to minimize it.
Robots: Robots must meet the SPARC Robot Construction Specifications. In addition, no fire weapons or ICE (Internal Combustion Engines). A LiPo charging bag must be used when charging your batteries. Weapon locks and sharp edge covers must be used while the bot is outside of the arena.
We will have two weight classes: Ant (1 pound) and Beetle (3 pound). If you have a Fairy (150 gram) you are more than welcome to bring it for grudge matches. Once the tournaments are over, or during any dead time, we will hold grudge matches and rumbles for those that are interested.
See weight class details for number of entry slots. Registered robots have priority over waitlisted robots on event day. There is no guarantee that a waitlisted robot will be able to fight in the tournament the day of the event.
Format: Dependent on number of entrants. Robots registered in tournament will be guaranteed at least two fights.
Fees: The Maker Faire is free to enter and spectate everything going on. The registration for the tournament is $20 per bot and will be handled at the event.
Prizes: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers in each weight class will receive a trophy. Winners pogs will be given out for each match victory
