Event Description
GENERAL INFO:Small Bots of Mass Destruction is back @ The Sanibel Community House starting on Saturday May 20th 2017... This one-day event hosted by KurTrox along with Treasure Coast Makerspace presents our 4th combat robot tournament. This EPIC event takes place on Sanibel Island. Not only do you get to fight robots, but play in the the sandy gulf coast beaches!!
Trophies and great prizes for the top 2 in each class, Special awards for the rumble winners, best engineered robot, coolest robot, best driver, sportsmanship award, highest hit, and more!
RULES PROCEDURES:
SBoMD uses a modified SPARC ruleset. Please visit our brand new SmallBots.US website for a detailed ruleset. Email event operator Abra Durjan for any questions regarding the rules. FLAMETHROWERS ARE ALLOWED!!!! and ENCOURAGED!
Each team is allowed a maximum of three robots per weight class. Each driver is only allowed to drive one robot per weight class. (Example: One team may enter 2 robots in the Beetleweight class, as long as there are two separate dedicated drivers for each robot). This helps us mitigate delays from one driver with too many robots to repair later in the day.
During the competition it is imperative that you stay close by, within announcers voice, at all times. We don't want anyone to forfeit because it is their turn to compete and they cannot be found. We will have a break for lunch, but bring snacks if you get hungry often.
DIRECTIONS:
The Sanibel Community House is located on Periwinkle Way on Sanibel Island, FL. Address is: 2173 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel, FL 33957. We will be located indoors with AC in their beautiful new facility. Invite your friends and family to watch the action!
ACCOMMODATIONS:
This is only a 1 day event but there are hotels and rental nearby. Anyone who wants to plan a vacay around this date can use their preferred choice to rent. We don’t have any deals this time.

Qualifiers should be finished by 7pm
Rumbles will be held just after finals end
Please stick around afterward if possible to help clean up and take down the arena.
Event should be finished by 8pm, and then we all go take naps!!!
FEES:
$20 per robot (all weight classes). Fees will be collected at the event check-in table. Cash or check. You can send payment before the event via paypal if you know you are coming.
PRIZES:
BIG Cash Prizes!! Apparently cash prizes are a hit so we keep it up. We will also be giving away prizes and money to rumbles winners. Cash Prizes are determined by the number of entrants per category.
ARENA:
POSSIBLY UPGRADED!!! We are trying super hard to make this an 8 ft x 16 ft rectangle, 4 ft tall walls, steel framed with 2PCS 1/4" polycarbonate walls and 1.5" plywood roof. Steel bumpers. Steel floor. 1 expandable pit
Pits will have a test box for all spinups / power on scenarios. DO NOT TURN YOUR ROBOT ON UNLESS ITS IN A HAPPY PLACE!! (arena or pit box) Yes the Unicorns and Rainbows were a hit.
EVENT WAIVER:
The pit area is closed off from the general public, but can be observed from the sidelines. Registered builders who enter the pit area must sign a release of liability. Everyone entering the pit area must sign one when your team arrives at the check-in table. All competitors or crew members under age 18 also must have their waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian.
