Event Description
Merry be, ye olde roboteers - NOR'EASTER Robot Combat Club returns after a winter hiatus to once again cause robotic havoc in ye olde Atlantic Canada. This time, we are laying siege to the Court at Gunningsville on Saturday, March 28, to once again take over a former school gym for a day of robot carnage. I hope you like asbestos, because old school gyms seem to be our thing. We're hoping to get robots in the box and fighting for 1pm sharp, so builders are asked to arrive at noon (or earlier) at 200 Karolie road in Riverview.
Much like our first outing at The Big Dreams Club last fall, we will have a full-day tournament of 150g fairyweight combat robots, followed by (time permitting) some other fights, whiteboards, and fun challenges! We once again have a podium and trophies for our top 3 machines, as well as some nice hardware for some special categories! We are looking for an 8 robot minimum to make the day viable, less than that and we will have to cancel.
Contrary to our first two events though, we will need to charge a sign-up fee for builders from this point onward. I don't love doing this, but expenses being what they are, we've fronted enough to get this thing off the ground and need help keeping a cash-flow going to ensure we can continue to host mutliple events like this every year!
Registration are open until end-of-day, Wednesday, March 18 and will be a base $20 fee per team, and an additional $5 for each robot the team registers. Please note, if you register a robot, you are commiting to pay the registration fee, which must be collected before the end of the registration period - please note there will be no refunds for a registered machine that does not show up on tournament day. It is builders' responsibility to ensure their machines are in working order for the tournament - if your machine is not functional, or does not pass the required safety check, you will not be refunded the registration fee.
Tournament format and more details TBD as we get closer to the day and see how many robots we have registered! Hope to see lots of you and your machines make it out again!
