Event Description
Nor'easter has been invited to participate in the 2025 Manga Expo in Dieppe, running the weekend of November 22-23! Organizers are making arrangements to host us and a few competitors for small tournament to demonstrate the club, and the sport, to expo attendees.
We are waiting on what day + block of time of the weekend we will be given, and for final details to be ironed out, but in the meantime we are opening up registrating and letting folks know so builders have time put a robot together (or repair your machine from the Battle at the Big Dreams Club, depending on how bad of a beating it took!).
For builders returning from our first event, please keep in mind that this will be much, much smaller in scale. We won't be the only activity there and we are sharing the space with lots of other booths (split between the campus's gymnasium and the cafeteria).
The tournament format (TBD) will also be reflective of this smaller scale, as we might get something like an hour or two where they will pause some other activities and give us center stage. We are opening up registration for 6 to 8 150g fairyweight robots, but no more - if folks want to build reserve robots to include, by all means! With a small roster, any last-minute no-shows could make the tournament format a little... unstable. If we don't get enough participants, we'll have to cancel our appearance!
I'll update with new info as I get it! I wasn't expecting to plan another event so soon after our first big outing, but this opportunity feels too good to pass up and an opportunity to strike while the PLA is hot, before we all go back to our workshops during the upcoming cold winter months.
There's also a cosplay contest, so get your anime cat ears out - I won't stop you!
