If you can, please stay after to help us clean up. We'll be out by 8:00 pm EST or earlier.
Lunch (Domino's pizza) will be provided. If you are bringing more than 2 people per registered bot, then please let us know. Vegetarian and gluten-free options will be available upon request. A few weeks before the event, a form will be sent out; you must fill this form out to get lunch.
During Lunch, we will be hosting a 3lb JunkBotz competition. We will be doing a five-minute rumble. Rules can be found here. To sign up for the competition, please sign your team up under the "3lb Sportsman" class.
Fees: (includes 2 pit passes per robot):
Plastic Antweight = $15
Antweight = $15
Beetleweight = $15
Beetleweight JunkBotz = 0$
While Charlotte Combat Robot Club is planning to bring up to six plastic-antweight robots and two full-combat antweight robots, this is not guaranteed. We encourage people to sign up for both classes, even if there is a waitlist, as some of the team bots may be withdrawn.
Modified double elimination (single final fight) and SPARC rules apply. NC is running a modified version of SPARC, listed here [COMING SOON].
Once Registration fills up, any additional registrations will move to the wait list.
Release form and payment due Midnight EST, March 28th, 2026. If Registration is full, then anyone who has not paid and or submitted paperwork will be dropped to make room for others on the waitlist. This process will be very strict this year. Please make sure you are either ready to go (paid, paperwork submitted, bot ready) or that you've dropped your bot.
PLEASE upload a picture of your robot (either a CAD or a completed build)! If you can build a robot, you should be able to figure out how to upload a picture! This is mandatory for your application to be approved. You must have a phone number, email address, and an emergency contact who isn't the primary builder and is over 18. This is mandatory for your application to be approved.
We'd like to say a huge thanks to our event organizer, Chuck Butler! Chuck has been running events here in North Carolina for years and is the reason this event can happen. We would also like to thank the UNC Charlotte Student Involvement office, who have helped us set-up this event as well.
Some important rules:
We have been asked not to solder inside the venue. Instead, a soldering station will be set up directly outside, with a few soldering irons and solder provided.
- TPU is allowed under specific circumstances listed in the NC edition of SPARC rules. Outside of those cases, only filaments allowed for this class are PLA, PLA+, ABS, PET, PETG, and HIPS. Flexible PLA+ is not allowed. Filaments with additives (metal, carbon fiber, etc.) are prohibited.
- No flame weapons.
- 900 MHz, 2.4GHz, or spectrum radios are required. Any other frequency must have prior approval.
- No gas-powered robots.
- If you are using LiPo’s, you must have LiPo bags. All Lipo batteries must be in a LiPo bag while charging.
- Bring your own power strips.
- A weapon lock is required for all weapons AND weapon subsystems. An example of a weapon subsystem is a hammer saw's arm.
- A switch and power light are required. A jumper is acceptable in place of a switch as long as it can be easily and quickly connected and disconnected.
- JunkBotz Rules
- Note: This event will be using a modified version of the SPARC rules. This means a 1.25x weight bonus for shufflers, a 1.5x bonus for non-traditional translation that isn't a shuffler or a full walker, and a 2x bonus for full walkers. This event requires you to contact us when registering an NTL bot to determine a weight bonus (charlottecombatrobotclub@gmail.com).
