Northeast Robotics Club (NERC) was founded in 2000 with a goal to bring safe and accessible robot combat events to the region. Over the years, NERC has hosted events as varied as a battle in a barn to tournaments within the walls of the esteemed Franklin Institute in Philadelphia. But perhaps NERC is best known for Robot Conflict, a three-day tournament hosted as part of Motorama in Harrisburg, PA. NERC's Robot Conflict features six weight classses: fairy, ant, beetle, hobby, feather, and sportsman, plus a fun "these robots suck" compettion. Robot Conflict is an international event, and attracts top builders and teams from across the country and around the globe. Motorama Robot Conflict is one of the rare places in the U.S. where you can see 12 lb and 30 lb robots fight with a big live audeince in stadium style seating.
NERC keeps a simple ruleset and strives to maintain arena safety as one of our upmost priorities. Our tournaments are double-elimination, allowing for at least two chances to fight with your creation. NERC began as a small, close-knit family of like-minded builders and we honor that foundation, but our membership is diverse and growing. All ages are involved, from builders as young as 7 years old to those "more seasoned."
