Event Description
Apply To Bugglebots 2019 (aka 'Series 2')
Thank you for taking an interest in applying for Bugglebots 2019. Whether you’re an experienced roboteer or a first-timer, please read the following information before applying. If you have any further questions please email applications@bugglebots.com. Bugglebots is a combat robotics competition which is filmed and produced as a webseries. We fight robots in the UK Beetleweight 1.5kg class. The show format is intended to be similar to Bugglebots 2018, but we will confirm the competition format prior to filming. Applications for Bugglebots 2019 run from 18th February 2019 16:45:00pm to 18th April 2019 23:59:59pm. We will let you know the result of your application by 25th April 2019.
Please ensure you meet the following criteria:
- You and your entry will comply with the Bugglebots Rules and Code of Conduct and Fighting Robots Association (FRA) Build Rules.
- You are available for the whole of Saturday and Sunday 25th and 26th May. We may also require your availability on the Monday 27th May, but this will be confirmed after the application period has ended. Filming will be at University of the West of England (UWE), Bristol, United Kingdom.
- If you are aged under 16, you must have a suitable adult available to accompany you and must be able to provide Bugglebots with consent from your legal guardian to film you.
- Your entry must not have strong adult themes.
What we are looking for:
Bugglebots aims to promote the diversity and accessibility of robot combat as well as the entertainment and educational values of it. As such, we welcome applications from varying levels of experience and budget, from newcomers with first-builds to experienced veterans, and everything in between. We encourage teams as well as solo builds.
Some of the criteria we will be particularly looking for:
- New, exciting or innovative designs.
- Robots or teams with a distinct theme, character, or personality.
- Complex or highly-engineered builds.
- Newcomers or roboteers new to the beetleweight class.
- Experienced roboteers; particularly those with previous televised combat robotics or multiple awards.
Kit bots, commissioned builds and pre-owned are not encouraged to apply unless they have been heavily modified by you.
