Event Description
A DAY OF PLAYFUL INVENTION
Saturday, April 29th, 2006
10am to 3pm
Historical Electronics Museum
Linthicum, Maryland
(Near BWI Airport)
The Historical Electronics Museum will be swarming with walking, crawling, hopping, slithering, rolling, clanking, firefighting and metal crushing ROBOTS. In previous years the Robot Fest hosted robots that mow the lawn, robots that vacuum the house, robots that seek out and destroy other robots.
This FREE event features Robots built and operated by local school kids and the not-so-young kids-at-heart!
You will see teams from Technology Clubs, Robot Clubs and FIRST Teams from Middle Schools, High Schools and Home Schools in Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll and Harford counties. Their self-propelled robots and LEGO MindStorm creations have been designed using the latest microcontroller technology and programmed to perform specific tasks such as sumo matches, navigating a maze, hunting down and extinguishing fire!
Come and see:
- Johns Hopkins University-- find out about Haptic Teleoperation and Face Tracking with Computer Vision
- Maryland Institute of Art-- Robotics with Culture
- Colgate Elementary School
- EPC Fights Robotic Combat Arena
- The FIRST team from South River High School
We’re still planning, and we’re hoping some of our favorites will return:
- The Minesweeper and PhotoVore bots from BotBrain Company / PennBots
- Maryland’s Computer Aided Machines
- Boys Girls Clubs of Harford County, Maryland State FIRST LEGO League Winners
- AND our combative bots, too!
