Event Description
RCCR has been invited to the Alabama Science Festival at The Orion Amphitheater in Huntsville Alabama!
Last year, the Science Festival was split across 2 days and RCCR drew a huge crowd on the first day. This time STEAMfest is all being combined into a 1 day festival and the new Orion Amphitheater! We are expecting an even larger audience this year. Other attractions will include: stage shows, FIRST Robotics Exposition, a dinosaur fosil exhibit, and multiple local buisinesses with STEM activities for everyone. If you have never been to the Alabama Science Festival, you are missing out! This is more then just a robot competition, it's attached to a huge festival full of people that just want to celebrate all things STEAM!

There will be foodtrucks and concesion stands at the event.
You can be there as early as 7am on Saturday, the arena should be setup and ready by 8am. There is a gap where no entry is permitted between 9:30am and 10am, plan accordingly. At 10am the venue opens up to the public and will start to get crowded. If you come in after 10am just be prepared that you will have to navigate the venue with a large amount of people walking through the other booths.
All bots must be through check-in before 11:45 to compete. The fights will be starting at noon and finishing by 8pm. Ideally, we want the semi-finals to be around 5pm to coordinate with some other festival activities.
Tables and chairs provided for pits. Plan to bring extension cords and power strips if needed, I will have a few but not enough for everyone. This is an outdoor event and there will be limited power outlets. We are planning to have a central battery charging table. Pit tables will be picnic style tables. Canopy tents are acceptable to put over your pit space, but must have weights to hold them down.
This event is open to 1lb and 3lb robots. If anyone is interested, I can bring a Fairyweight arena as well for Exposition matches. The arena is 6' x 6', steal floor, and one corner has an Out of the Arena Zone. SPARC rules apply, no fire weapons.
